useRef

It always replaces the value with null
It uses the value on the first render and ignores that argument on later renders
React places the supplied initialValue in ref.current on the first render. On later renders, useRef returns the same ref object and ignores newly evaluated initialValue arguments.
It defaults to an empty object
It throws an error
